Summary:  Responsible for stock control of spare parts and consumables and the orderliness/tidiness of the locations in the Engineering Department designated for storage of these items.

With about 30 crew working on various engineering projects, the Stores team holds the key to the tools. It's up to them to track inventory, collaborate with our supply teams, and make sure the department has what it needs to maintain a safe vessel.  

The Engineering Storeman volunteer position, part of the Engineering department, will be located on the Africa Mercy and Global Mercy, the world's largest non-governmental hospital ships. The preferred minimum time commitment for this role is 12 months, though shorter commitments may be considered. We recommend all interested applicants to submit an application six months in advance of your target service date. Commitments longer than 12 months require successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding Program.

Qualifications required:

  • Successful completion of Security Awareness in accordance with STCW A-VI/6
  • Successful completion of Basic Training in accordance with STCW A-VI/1 1-4 (if joining for 6+ months)
  • Background in warehousing, inventory, and stock control preferred
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
