Biomedical Project Assistant
Summary:  Responsible for deploying all medical equipment used in the hospital including, but not limited to, radiology, pharmacy, operating rooms, clean core, intensive care units, simulation training rooms, pre and post-operative rooms, wards, nursing stations and sterilization de-contamination rooms.

Most equipment is packaged as received from the manufacturer - this project is focused on initial setup and deployment.  Understanding of equipment use, knowledge of physiology or clinical application is not required for most projects.

What does Mercy Ships need in order to provide safe surgery?  Surgeons, nurses, anaesthetists, tools, and... working machines. The Biomedical team is there to ensure all of our surgical and diagnostic equipment is working to a professional standard.

The Biomedical Project Assistant is a volunteer position.  The preferred minimum commitment for this role is four weeks.  We are now accepting applications.

Qualifications Required:

  • 2-5 years experience with medical equipment deployment and basic operation preferred
  • Biomedical, Clinical, or Electronic technical or academic training may qualify
  • Recently certified Biomedical Technicians may be considered
  • Fluent in English
