IS Support Specialist
Summary:  Providing excellent customer service and is the first line help desk support, assisting with hardware and software incidents and problems via phone, email, or tickets.

On a modern hospital ship, there is plenty of technology to go around. Whether it be a business system, a crew member's personal device, or the audio/visual equipment - the Information Services team will be there, ready to help.

The IS Support Specialist volunteer position, part of the Information Services department, will be located on the Africa Mercy and Global Mercy, the world's largest non-governmental hospital ships. The preferred minimum commitment for this role is four months. We recommend all interested applicants to submit an application at least six months in advance of your target service date. Commitments longer than twelve months require successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding Program

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems or computer science, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
  • MCP, ComptTIA A+ and/or Network+ certification, or equivalent is preferred
  • Helpdesk and issue tracking software experience is preferred
  • At least two years of relevant work experience is required, preferably in enterprise IT environment
  • Strong working knowledge of the latest Microsoft desktop operating systems
  • Demonstrable knowledge of IT and telecommunications troubleshooting techniques
