Communications Director
Summary:  Overseeing the onboard communications team, our Communications Director is responsible for using their creative eye and communications skills to lead the department in presenting the most compelling stories of our patients. Additionally, they work closely with the ship management team in the planning and executing of all media events and messaging.

We are seeking a skilled individual to lead our Communications team. Your leadership can help the world witness patient journeys and transformations! 

The Communications Director volunteer position, part of the Communications department, will be located on the Africa Mercy, the world's largest non-governmental hospital ship. The preferred minimum time commitment for this role is two years. We recommend all interested applicants to submit an application at least six months in advance of your target service date. Commitments longer than ten months require successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding Program.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or graduate degree (MBA preferred)  
  • Excellent organizational and management skills 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the internet, email, contact management software, and Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience in managing and facilitating teams, constructive conflict resolution, and collaborative decision making strategies
  • Conversant in French preferred
  • International Driver's Permit required
