Summary:  Provide administrative and supervisory support to the HOPE Centre and team house.  Ensure high quality total patient care for surgical patients is provided from admission through discharge at the Hospital OutPatient Extension (HOPE).

Hospital OutPatient Extension Center. For those patients waiting for or recovering from surgery, the HOPE Center, located off of the Africa Mercy, serves as a place where they can receive the care and attention they need.  The HOPE Center staff sees that these patients have a comfortable stay and help facilitate paperwork and other non-medical needs. 

The HOPE Centre Manager volunteer position, part of the Operations department, will be located on the Africa Mercy, the world's largest non-governmental hospital ship. The preferred minimum commitment for this role is two years. We recommend all interested applicants to submit an application at least six months in advance of your target service date. Commitments longer than ten months require successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding Program

This position requires living in a land-based team house with other crew members. 

Qualifications required:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required
  • Experience in a developing nations environment preferred
  • Experience in project management required
  • Good computer skills required
  • International Driver's Permit required
  • Conversant in French preferred
  • Good organizational, computer, and personal skills
